Peter Bjonerud

Chief Financial Officer


Mr. Bjonerud has over 30 years of private, non profit and public company financial executive experience as well as “Big Four “public accounting and government contract consulting experience. Career positions include large scale holding company and subsidiary level CFO, Group President, Senior VP Finance, EDP and Administration as well as Corporate International Treasurer for a major multinational.

Since early 2003, Mr. Bjonerud has been the CFO and Corporate Treasurer of SURA. Mr. Bjonerud is also Corporate Treasurer of Jefferson Science Associates, LLC (JSA), SURA’s majority owned joint venture with Computer Science Corporation,y which operates and manages the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Laboratory (TJNAF) -- a $650 million DOE nuclear physics reserach facility.

Prior to joining SURA, Mr. Bjonerud founded in 1996 a corporate finance and M&A advisory firm which specialized in raising capital for early stage software, biomed and e-business related companies. His firm, CFM Inc., worked closely with premier investment banking, venture capital and institutional investor groups and provided financial advisory services for over $100 million in private equity and partnership offerings. CFM was also an early stage investor, along with Goldman Sachs and KKR, in WitCapital/SoundView Technologies, a pioneer internet and technology investment banking firm that went public in 1999.

Prior to starting CFM, Mr. Bjonerud spent 13 years with Reed/Elsevier (RE), a $6 billion dollar Dutch/Anglo media and leading scientific, medical and legal publishing firm. Key positions held included Group President of a nationwide subsidiary, CFO of U.S. operations and, during his last four years, International Treasurer managing a $2 billion operation overseeing all global acquisition financing, cash and investment management, and foreign exchange and interest rate risk management for over 200 business units in 24 countries.

Mr. Bjonerud began his career as a public accountant in the Washington DC office of KPMG where he gained experience in private and government sector accounting, tax and financial management consulting.

Mr. Bjonerud has an undergraduate business degree from Georgetown University and an MBA in International Finance from George Washington University. He is a CPA (formerly licensed in Virginia) and formerly held active investment advisor, securities representative and investment banking NASD license registrations.  He has also been a Board Member of several private companies as well as a member of the Board of Trustees of a Washington area private school.
