Gary Crane is the Director of Information Technology Initiatives for the Southeastern Universities Research Association (SURA). Gary is responsible for the development of SURA's information technology projects and programs(www.sura.org/programs/it_initiatives.htm), including SURAgrid(www.suragrid.org), a SURA community grid development initiative. Gary has been instrumental in forging corporate partnerships in support of the SURAgrid community that have resulted in significant relationships with IBM and Microsoft

Gary has a long history working with regional and national high performance academic networking organizations and recently concluded a partnership with AT&T that has provided academic regional optical network operators from across the country with access to very low cost AT&T fiber optic facilities that are now part of the national academic network infrastructure. Gary holds B.S.E.E. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Rochester.
