As Chief Operating Officer & Communications/Relations Director, Greg D. Kubiak is responsible for helping develop and oversee SURA's business plan and organizational operations. He also helps plan and implement relations and communications activities to promote SURA’s visibility as a regional organization with national impact.  He provides leadership and overall management of SURA’s external relations program including activities and relations with the media, government organizations and agencies, member institutions and other organizations.

Before joining SURA in 2004, Mr. Kubiak was Senior Policy Manager for the Southern Governors’ Association based in Washington – the oldest and historically largest regional governors’ association.  Prior to joining SGA, he worked for other non-profit and policy organizations and was Legislative Director for U.S. Senator David Boren of Oklahoma. 

Mr. Kubiak earned a bachelors degree in political science from the University of Oklahoma and authored, “The Gilded Dome: The U.S. Senate and Campaign Finance Reform” published in 1994.  He and his partner, Joe, live in Washington, D.C.
