What are the benefits of SURAfund for Venture Capitalists and Angel Investors?
Participating investors, whether established Venture Capital or Angel Investor groups, benefit from the program in numerous ways:
- Increased deal flow through early access to spinouts from 63 universities across the entire southeast
- Ability to reach outside your traditional geographic boundaries due to SURA's network and the dispersed location of other investors in the program
- SURA handles all of the administrative management, including initiating the solicitations, eliminating unqualified submissions, and categorizing the deals
- SURA also works with the firms to perform continued due diligence on interesting deals, including arranging phone conferences and traveling to sites
- Through the SURA network of universities, participating investors also have access to subject matter experts across all technical fields for due diligence
- Co-investment opportunities with other firms having complementary expertise and investment criteria
How can I participate if I am an interested investor?
All venture capitalists and angel investment groups that meet the following criteria are invited to participate:
- Interested in university, early-stage deals
- Willing to make investments (lead or co-invest) in the $100-$1M range
- Able to make larger follow-on investments
- Located anywhere in the US and willing to make investments in startups located in the southeast
- Interested in participating in a cooperative manner with other investors and SURA
