SURA IT Project Proposal Procedures |

In April of 2000, the SURA Board of Trustees approved an IT (Information Technology) Initiatives Fund of $3M over 30 months to implement the IT program proposed by the SURA IT Committee. The IT program provides a mechanism to engage SURA's own IT expertise and the expertise of its member institutions to best take advantage of IT opportunities that require quick decision making. The IT strategy formulated for SURA by the SURA IT Committee recognizes that, first and foremost, the mission of SURA must be supported. In addition, the IT strategy calls for leveraging information technology in ways that create competitive advantage for member institutions as they pursue the federal research dollars needed to establish excellence in scientific research. The SURA IT Committee identified the following four focus areas for SURA sponsored IT initiatives:
Under the guidance of the SURA IT Committee, SURA will pursue the above focus areas first in the form of projects that are initiated by the IT Committee itself and recognized as being central to the realization of broad regional goals. In addition, the SURA IT Committe will consider support for collaborative IT projects as proposed by SURA member institutions. The following are the criteria used by the IT Steering Group in considering proposals for funding from the IT Initiatives Fund:
