Meeting Location

The Spring 2008 SURA Board of Trustees and Standing Committee Meetings will be hosted by Hampton University, Monday & Tuesday, April 7 & 8, 2008. The meetings will be held at the McGrew Towers Conference Center located on the University campus in Hampton, Virginia. Hampton University is located in the Tidewater area of Virginia at exit 267 of I-64. There are two major airports within close driving distance, Norfolk International Airport (ORF) is approximately 30 minutes from the University and Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (PHF) is approximately 20 minutes.

Hotel Accomodations

SURA has reserved a block of sleeping rooms at the Embassy Suites at Hampton Roads through March 14, 2008 at the rate of $139.00. Please make your reservations by contacting 757-827-8200 before March 14 to receive the group rate. Be sure to reference SURAwhen making your reservations. The hotel is just off I-64 in Hampton’s Coliseum Central Business District. Additional driving directions from the two major airports can be found online.

Transportation

Please keep in mind parking will be limited on the Hampton University campus. Transportation will be provided between the Embassy Suites and the campus based on the following schedule:
April 7, 2008
8:30am: Embassy Suites to Hampton University McGrew Towers
10:00am: Embassy Suites to Hampton University McGrew Towers
7:00pm: Hampton University Museum to Embassy Suites
April 8, 2008
7:00am: Embassy Suites to Hampton University McGrew Towers
11:00am: Hampton University McGrew Towers to Embassy Suites

The Embassy Suites does provide local area transportation. The local shuttle is limited to 10 passengers and can be coordinated directly with the hotel through the concierge. It does not provide service to either of the local airports.
